Our Story

How We Met:
I met Josh through a mutual friend. I had been giving him rides to and from Joshs apartment and had chatted with him while we were there. I had always been attracted to him, but could never read any signals as to whether or not he was interested, so I kept my mouth shut. I absolutely LOVED his long hair and really wanted him to ask me out. I found out we loved the same music, and mostly talked about that, but still nothing ever came of it.
On New Years Eve of 2008 I had to work, so I gave my friend Matt a ride to Joshs place for a party they were having. I was pretty nervous about going in to their place because I was in my scrubs, no makeup on and my hair was in a ponytail; I looked awful. I had been trying to get up the courage to ask Josh to dinner for a few weeks, but honestly I didnt think he even knew I existed although I had been to his house several times in the past couple of weeks with Matt. When I dropped Matt off that night the first thing I noticed was that Josh cut ALL OF HIS HAIR OFF!!! I was dumbfounded. I literally couldnt seem to get my jaw back into its normal position because I was so shocked. After I composed myself I stood there babbling trying muster up the courage to say something, but couldntBefore I left everyone went inside but Josh stood outside and talked with me for a few minutes. He hugged me before I left and that was the first time he ever showed any interest. I was determined to ask him on a date if he didnt ask me soon.
After I got all of my chores done at work and had a moment to relax I called Joshs phone to talk to Matt, who was conveniently in the bathroom unconscious, so I got to talk to Josh. We talked for about an hour and I was absolutely smitten. Once I had to go back to work, we texted back and forth. Finally, I decided to call and ask him out. I was so nervous the entire time I was talking to him I had my hand over my eyes. He said yes to a date the next day. I was super excited. He stayed up and talk to me until I got off work at 7am the next morning.

The first date:
Before our date I tried on everything I had in my closest. I didnt think I should wear my jeans and t-shirt (which is what I normally wear) but couldnt decide on anything. I tried fixing my hair but ended up taking 3 showers because I kept messing it up so I eventually just put my hair up in a ponytail and threw on a shirt (which he hated by the way) and left. I was so nervous picking him up. He made me three burnt c.ds of bands I needed to listen to and after a prank on his friends we left for dinner.
Since it was New Years Day nothing was open but a Chinese Buffett. We both thought the food was terrible, but the company was nice. I was embarrassed because I wanted to pay for my own meal but lost the money I had brought. After dinner we went and watched the Curious Case of Benjamin Button. During the moving (for about an hour and a half actually) I saw him out of the corner of my eye trying to get up the courage to hold my hand, haha =p. After the movie neither of us was ready to end the evening so decided on coffee. Starbucks was closed so we went with McDonalds. I finally found that money I misplaced and got to pay for our drinks. I drove up to Dug Gap Mountain and parked. We talked for a while and then he asked me Would you mind terribly if I kissed you? which of course I thought was the cutest thing ever. We ended the night around 1:30am and I went home a happy girl.

The proposal:

Josh and I had been together about a year and 8 months come my 22nd Birthday in September of 2010. I found out one our favorite bands were playing a show in Atlanta 2 days after my birthday and I wanted to go. Josh insisted that we could not due to financial reasons. I understood but was pretty bummed. I was hopeful that he would surprise me with tickets. One day after class his Dad called me and asked if I would come to a BBQ in Toccoa with his family on the day of the concert. I couldnt say no and hadnt seen them in a while so I said yes, knowing that now there was no way we would be going to the show. I was disappointed, but what can ya do? Long story short, Josh had an elaborate plan that fell through. He got me tickets to the show and the family BBQ was all just an act. He even had his cousin in on it so he was pretty convincing. I was super excited. After the band play we walked out to get some air. I had screamed and sang so much that I had lost my voice completely. He told me he had another present to close my eyes. That night, on September 4th, 2010, after an amazing show in front of the stadium outside, he purposed to me. I never expected it at all, and he couldnt have picked a more perfect way to do it. I never really believed that there was one person in the world you were meant to be with, until I found Josh and cant wait to spend the rest of my life with him.
